Giraffes Giraffes are the tallest mammal in the world their habitat is savanna woodland and grassland . sadly the last white giraffe got shot in kenya on 11 of march 2020 . Giraffes are very tall they are about 20 feet tall that's 6.1 meters They are light yellow with brown spots . They can run 35 mph short distance and 10 mph long distance . Their necks are to short to touch the ground so they bend their knees to drink water. They only need to drink water once every few days most their water comes from plants .Giraffes stand up most their life they sleep standing up and even give birth standing up Giraffes mate any time of the year normally the female is 48 to 60 months old when it first mates and the male is 42 months old. The females period is normally 453/464 days long . The female normally gives birth to one but rarely you will see it give birth to twins. The baby drinks milk for the first 4/6 months and then moves onto leaves and water . Giraffes are herbivores which means they can only eat plants . Their favorite food is acacia and sometimes they eat hundreds of pounds of leaves a week and 75 pounds a day . normally they spend 16/20 hours a day eating. They also eat shrubs, mimosa, and wild apricot trees, sometimes fruit. Giraffes can last longer without water than a camel. Giraffes are the coolest mammal in the world so i hope you learnt a lot about giraffes .
